Reccer's Notes:

This story has a young Obi-Wan Kenobi, newly in charge of a 9 year old Anakin, recognize that Anakin's upbringing has taught him different things than the younglings who grew up in the Jedi Order, and seeks to remedy his lacking understanding of jedi theology. And, as in many canon divergence fics, that changes everything.
There's a strong focus on the Jedi Master/Padawan relationship, including discussions of the meaning of "Master", especially as it relates to Anakin as a former slave.
"The Force" is tagged as a character and the relationships the characters have with it are important.
This story has a compelling emotional arc and a very satisfying dramatic showdown.

(There's also a hint of diplomatic marriage with an - in this story - side character, but other than the effects of said diplomatic marriage it's not important so I didn't tag it as a theme.)

“Congratulations.” Mr. Hollander holds up his glass and nods towards Ilya. “No one deserves it more than you, kid. Your work ethic…” Mr. Hollander shakes his head, eyebrows raised, and lets out a low whistle. “You’re hungry. It’s impressive.”

Ilya Rozanov is the best damn rookie the NHL has ever seen. Shane Hollander, captain of the Metros and three-time Stanley Cup winner with over 700 career goals (not that Ilya is counting, thank you very much), just wants to help him celebrate.

Reccer's Notes: This is the first in a series of (currently) four fics about Mr. Hollander and puppy-Ilya. It's an AU 'verse where Shane is considerably older and a still-active and legendary NHL player, and Ilya's much younger and the rookie of the year. Ilya very much looks up to Shane, and the relationship that rapidly develops (with puppylike enthusiasm and full consent on Ilya's part) is a Dom/sub one. In a partial reversion of the usual HR dynamic, Ilya is a sub who tops and Shane is a dom who likes being fucked - but that's in later stories in the series. This is their first meeting, with the establishment of their veteran player/rookie and Dom/sub relationship. It's funny, well-written, and very hot. The podfic's also highly recommended.

Reccer's Notes: Well, well, well... this story actually utilizes the 19-year age gap in a way no one else has done (to my knowledge), because in this story Viggo is actually Orlando's teacher. Yes, you are reading correctly. This story deals with a student/teacher relationship. If this squicks you out, it's probably safer if you skip this. If you are game, you can look forward to a lot of "we really shouldn't"-arguments interspersed with hot sex scenes. Apart from the subject matter and the fact that Razzle is an amazing writer, this story is interesting insofar as Orlando has a very go-get-them attitude. He's the driving force behind much of the plot. Most of the time, he's written as the more passive in the relationship, so if you want character dynamics that are a little off the beaten path, this might be something for you.

Reccer's Notes:
I fell hard for The Pitt with all the trauma and angst that goes into the series itself, because while I've worked in hospitals most of my adult life (pharmacy technician and pharmacy informatics), I've never seen a television series that actually gets a lot of it right. That's the thing about The Pitt, it just grabs you and won't let you go.

This is a nice little story where Dennis was in college, gets cut off by his parents, and is still at PTMC, but as a barista in the employee cafeteria. Robby meets him and they instantly have a connection. And when Robby finds out that Dennis was in school to become a doctor, he takes him under his wing.

A lot of The Pitt fics for Robby/Dennis go down the DOM/sub route, but this one doesn't. There's really no power dynamics or anything (which isn't my cup of tea, but YMMV). It's just two lonely people meeting each other, finding they have something in common, and then becoming closer. It starts out as strangers, grows to mentor/protoge, and really goes from there.

You know - like real life. Just like The Pitt really simulates real life.

Anyway, this is a beautiful, somewhat angsty fic that I adore, so sharing here.

Reccer's Notes: This is set considerably before canon, with Rodney as a young (short-term) high school teacher and John his sixteen-year-old student. As is frequently the case in Stargate Atlantis fandom, they fall for each other, and at one point it seems as though Rodney's going to betray his position. A clever - and very hot - fic, if you don't mind the author skating close to statutory rape (but, I promise, not actually going there). In the end all's well, even if they are stuck in Pegasus with life-sucking aliens.

Reccer's notes: I received this fic as a treat for this year's

friendshipex , and I was over the moon with the results. Edmond's relationship with Faria is one of my favorite aspects of the novel; the father-son bond they form while in prison together, and the way Faria educating Edmond is what sets the stage for him to be able to go on his revenge quest later on. This fic feels like it could be the epilogue to the novel - after all, Edmond's poured the last several years (over half of his life!) into the revenge thing, it's easy to imagine that he'd sort of spiral trying to figure out what to do after that. I love the idea of him moving on to instead dedicate his time and energy to honoring his friend and mentor. I also love how his relationship with Haydée is portrayed in the fic, with her being supportive but not always knowing how to handle Edmond's moods. The tone here is very close to the original novel, so I highly recommend if you, like me, have become obsessed with this book.
